The 24 for MND Cycling Event is back again in 2024!
Event Details:
Event: 24 hours cycling individually or in a team (maximum of 6 riders per team) on a closed bike track. Safe, fast and fully visible to spectators!
Date & Time: 10:00am Saturday 31 August 2024 - 10:00am Sunday 1st September 2024
Venue: Criterium Track at Albert Bishop Park
About the event:
The event will be held on a closed cycle track where individuals and teams of up to 6 (max) will compete to cover the most laps within the 24hrs.
Teams' progress will be monitored throughout the 24hrs and live updates will be shown on a large screen for spectators to stay updated.
The winner is the team that covers the most laps in 24hrs which means it is up to the teams to strategize their game plan (eg. 4 cyclists = 6 hrs each OR swap cyclists every hour etc)
Of course for most of us just getting through the 24hrs will be achievement enough.
Bring the whole family, club or firm as the set up for spectators is fantastic with the whole track on display.
Riders are more than welcome to wear your own cycling kits but are encouraged to wear the MND and Me socks that are provided with your registration for unity on the track.
Entry fees:
Price $50 per rider
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and in turn to raise funds to support those people and families impacted by MND. It is hoped that each team raise a minimum of $2,500 in sponsorship from their friends, family and work colleagues.
Together, we aim to raise $100,000 to ensure no Queenslander faces MND alone.
Included with the entry fees:
- Full first aid support
- Full ride logistics
- Bathroom facilities
- Teams and Riders are welcome to bring tents and support crew provisions. There will be ample space at the venue for family and friends.
- Free parking
Insurance:
We recommend having your own personal insurance. If you don’t have a personal policy you can access a monthly membership through AUS Cycling HERE
Registration Closing Date Wednesday 21st August 2024
Fundraising commitment: As this ride is a fundraising event, we ask all participants to commit to raising a minimum of $2,500. We ask that the minimum fundraising amount is met by the cut-off date of Wednesday 21st August. The reason our event exist is to raise funds for people living with MND, our charity receives no government funding and we would not be able to operate without the donations raised from events like this one.
