I'm doing this for my Dad and all the other people, family and friends impacted by MND.

It's estimated that 3,000 Australians are diagnosed with MND each year. MND affects your mobility, speech and eventually your ability to swallow and breathe. There is no effective treatment to slow the progression, with a life expectancy of approximately 2.5 years for most.

I'm using my silence to show people living with MND that they are not alone. Your donation will be invested into research to find a cure and in the meantime help Queenslanders living with MND.

Thank you for donating to vital research to find a cure and support services to ensure people with MND continue to receive the best possible care.

My long Weekend Without Words will finish at 6pm today. Thank you all for your very kind donations. I know MND & Me will use those funds wisely to support and cure. How lucky am I that I know I'm able to speak again soon. For those living with MND it is one of many challenges they face as this horrible disease progresses. Dad's eyes were beautiful and blue, sometimes turning to green. When he could no longer talk his eyes became his voice. So very expressive and quite 'directive' at times!

Since I have also been on a Facebook ban, I needed to be informed by Mum of the extra cheeky challenge Beth issued. Since you guys rock and have donated over $1K I get the 'privilege' of doing this for longer. I'll have to find out the rules of engagement from Beth and will let you know my new end date/time. I already had to go longer into today since I worked on Saturday at an event. For safety reasons I needed to talk but it hit home how challenging it would be to work without speaking.

The last 12 hours have been the easiest so far, providing talking in my sleep doesn't count haha. I didn't give my work colleagues a heads up and I'm in the office today so have used some of my sponsored "talk time" to get through the morning entry to the office. Talk time has been granted when fundraising milestones are achieved. It was a nice surprise to receive talk time has been used very sparingly. Wish me luck in the office today.

Well this has been significantly more challenging than I expected! Text to speech apps are soooo sloooooow to use ... but how great that I can still type a text and technology means it is read out loud. Now if I could just find a more Aussie sounding female voice. I also worked out I can't use it during a phone call while using the same phone as the app.
